Overview
Tsavo East National Park is the largest protected area in Kenya and offers a raw wilderness experience. This two day safari allows you to explore the vast flat plains characterized by the Galana River, the Yatta Plateau, and the Lugard Falls. The park is renowned for its large herds of red elephants, which get their color from rolling in the distinct laterite soil. You will also have the opportunity to spot the unique Tsavo lions, cheetahs, and diverse birdlife in this expansive scrubland.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Travel to Tsavo East and Afternoon Safari
Departing from the coastal city of Mombasa or Nairobi, you will drive to Tsavo East National Park. You will enter through the main gate and immediately commence a game drive en route to your lodge or camp for lunch. Following an afternoon rest, you will venture back out into the wild to track wildlife along the Galana River, where many animals congregate to drink during the heat of the day.

Day 2
Morning Exploration and Departure
Your day begins with a sunrise game drive across the expansive plains, looking for predators returning from their night hunts. You will visit the Lugard Falls where the Galana River plunges through narrow rocky gorges, providing an excellent spot to stretch your legs and take photographs. After breakfast, you will check out and enjoy a final game drive as you exit the park heading to your next destination.
