Overview

This four day safari offers a completely different perspective of Kenya, focusing on the lush, cool highlands. You will visit the Aberdare National Park, staying in a famous tree lodge where wildlife comes to you, visiting floodlit waterholes at night. You will then move to the foothills of Mount Kenya, the second highest peak in Africa, to enjoy forest walks, equator crossings, and tracking unique wildlife adapted to the high altitudes such as the beautiful bongo antelope and giant forest hogs.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1
Nairobi to Aberdare National Park
You will drive from Nairobi into the central highlands, passing through fertile agricultural lands. Upon reaching the Aberdare region, you will have lunch at a base hotel before transferring to your iconic tree lodge inside the national park. Spend the afternoon and evening observing elephants, buffaloes, and potentially leopards coming to drink at the lodge floodlit waterhole.

Day 2
Aberdare to Mount Kenya Region
After breakfast, you will descend from the tree lodge and drive towards the Mount Kenya region. You will cross the equator, pausing for a demonstration of the Coriolis effect. Arriving at your lodge in the foothills of the mountain, you will spend the afternoon relaxing or partaking in optional activities like guided forest walks or horseback riding.

Day 3
Exploring Mount Kenya National Park
Today is dedicated to exploring the lower slopes of Mount Kenya National Park. You will embark on game drives through the dense montane forest, looking for unique high altitude species, black and white colobus monkeys, and abundant birdlife. The spectacular mountain scenery provides a breathtaking backdrop throughout the day.

Day 4
Return to Nairobi
After a leisurely breakfast enjoying the crisp mountain air, you will check out and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon with incredible memories of the Kenyan highlands.
