Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1
Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
You will drive north from Nairobi, crossing the equator into the striking semi arid landscapes of Samburu. You will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge along the riverbank. In the late afternoon, you will head out for a game drive to seek out the unique northern wildlife species.

Day 2
Full Day Game Viewing in Samburu
You will spend the entire day exploring the Samburu and Buffalo Springs reserves. You will trace the winding Ewaso Nyiro River, observing huge herds of elephants coming to drink. You will keep a keen eye out for leopards resting in the large acacia trees and track the Samburu Special Five.

Day 3
Samburu to Lake Nakuru National Park
After an early breakfast, you will leave the northern frontier and drive down into the Great Rift Valley towards Lake Nakuru National Park. You will drive along the lake shores to see flamingos and explore the woodland to track both black and white rhinoceros.

Day 4
Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara National Reserve
You will depart Lake Nakuru early and drive through the Rift Valley to the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve. You will arrive in time for lunch. In the late afternoon, you will head out for your first game drive in the Mara, exploring the vast plains in search of the big cats that make this reserve famous.

Day 5
Full Day Safari Exploring the Maasai Mara
This entire day is dedicated to exploring the vast expanses of the Maasai Mara. You will carry a picnic lunch so you can maximize your time in the reserve. You will visit the Mara River to view hippos and crocodiles, and spend hours observing the complex interactions between predators and prey.

Day 6
Second Full Day in the Maasai Mara
