Starting with the freshwater Lake Naivasha, you will experience a unique walking safari on Crescent Island alongside giraffes and zebras. The journey then moves to Lake Nakuru National Park, a premier sanctuary for endangered black and white rhinoceros. The adventure culminates with three unforgettable nights in the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This extended duration allows you to explore different corners of the Mara, maximizing your chances of tracking elusive leopards, witnessing lion prides hunting, and observing the endless herds of plains game that define the African savanna.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Nairobi to Lake Naivasha and Crescent Island
You will be picked up from your Nairobi hotel and driven down the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Upon reaching Lake Naivasha, you will take a boat ride to Crescent Island. Here, you will enjoy a guided walking safari, getting incredibly close to harmless herbivores like waterbucks and giraffes in their natural habitat.

Day 2
Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, you will drive a short distance to Lake Nakuru National Park. Following lunch at your lodge, you will embark on an afternoon game drive. You will scan the lake shores for flamingos and explore the acacia woodlands to track both black and white rhinoceros, making this one of the best rhino viewing experiences in East Africa.

Day 3
Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara National Reserve
You will leave Lake Nakuru and drive through the Rift Valley towards the famous Maasai Mara. Arriving in time for a late lunch, you will have a brief rest before heading out for your first exciting evening game drive, searching for the big cats as they begin to stir for the night.

Day 4
Full Day Safari Exploring the Maasai Mara
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the vast plains of the Maasai Mara. Carrying a packed picnic lunch allows you to venture far into the reserve, visiting the Mara River to view hippos and massive crocodiles. Your guide will work to find all members of the Big Five and explain the intricate dynamics of the savanna ecosystem.

Day 5
Second Full Day in the Maasai Mara Ecosystem
A second full day in the Mara allows you to explore different territories, perhaps focusing on the quieter conservancies or tracking a specific pride of lions. Final Morning Safari and Return to Nairobi
