This six day itinerary explores the rugged and breathtaking southern safari circuit of Kenya. You begin with two nights in Amboseli National Park, internationally famous for its massive elephant herds and unparalleled views of Mount Kilimanjaro. You then move into the volcanic landscapes of Tsavo West National Park, where you will explore the Mzima Springs and search for leopards. Finally, you cross into Tsavo East National Park for two nights, a vast and wild expanse renowned for its dust red elephants and the Galana River. This route offers a profound sense of untamed wilderness.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
You will depart Nairobi in the morning and drive south to Amboseli National Park. Arriving in time for lunch, you will have a brief rest before embarking on your afternoon game drive. You will spend the afternoon marveling at the large herds of elephants moving through the swamps, with Mount Kilimanjaro providing a spectacular background.

Day 2
Full Day Exploring Amboseli
You will wake up early for spectacular views of Kilimanjaro before the clouds roll in. You will spend the day exploring the park diverse habitats, from the dry lake bed to the lush wetlands. You will visit Observation Hill for panoramic views and seek out lions, cheetahs, and abundant birdlife.

Day 3
Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park
After breakfast, you will check out and drive towards Tsavo West National Park. The scenery changes dramatically as you enter this volcanic landscape. After lunch, you will visit Mzima Springs, a lush oasis producing millions of gallons of fresh water daily, where you can watch hippos swimming in the crystal clear water.

Day 4
Tsavo West to Tsavo East National Park
You will enjoy a morning game drive in Tsavo West, visiting the Shetani Lava Flow. Later, you will drive into the adjacent Tsavo East National Park, the largest protected area in Kenya. You will notice the terrain flattening out into vast savanna. After lunch, your game drive will focus on finding the famous red elephants along the Galana River.

Day 5
Full Day Exploration of Tsavo East
Today is dedicated to exploring the immense wilderness of Tsavo East. You will visit the Lugard Falls where the Galana River plunges through narrow rocky gorges. The open plains here make it an excellent location for spotting cheetahs and large prides of lions. You will spend the day traversing the vast landscapes with a packed lunch.

Day 6
Final Safari and Return to Nairobi or Mombasa
You will enjoy a final early morning game drive in Tsavo East. After breakfast, you will check out. Due to the strategic location of Tsavo, you have the option to be driven back to Nairobi or dropped off at the Kenya coast in Mombasa to begin a beach holiday.
