Overview

This four day safari offers a dramatic contrast in landscapes. You will begin in Amboseli National Park, famous for its open plains, massive elephant herds, and the iconic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. From there, you will travel to the adjacent Tsavo West National Park, characterized by its recent volcanic activity, lava flows, and dense scrub. You will visit the crystal clear Mzima Springs where hippos swim underwater and explore the Shetani Lava Flow.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
You will depart Nairobi and drive south to Amboseli National Park. Arriving by midday, you will have lunch and relax before an afternoon game drive. You will spend the afternoon marveling at the large herds of elephants moving through the swamps, with Mount Kilimanjaro looming in the background.

Day 2
Morning in Amboseli and Transfer to Tsavo West
After an early morning game drive in Amboseli and breakfast, you will check out and drive towards Tsavo West National Park. The scenery changes dramatically as you enter the volcanic landscape of Tsavo. You will arrive for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary to look for the highly endangered black rhino.

Day 3
Exploring Tsavo West and Mzima Springs
Today you will explore the vast wilderness of Tsavo West. A highlight of the day is a guided walk around Mzima Springs, a lush oasis producing millions of gallons of fresh water daily. You will descend into the underwater viewing chamber to watch hippos and fish swimming in the crystal clear water. The afternoon will be spent tracking wildlife amidst the baobab trees and lava flows.

Day 4
Final Game Drive and Return to Nairobi
