Overview
This spectacular five day air safari connects two of Kenyas most contrasting and rewarding ecosystems seamlessly. Traveling by road between the northern frontier and the southern savanna takes over two days but by taking light aircraft flights you will connect them in just two hours. You will spend two nights in the arid striking landscapes of Samburu National Reserve seeking out the rare Special Five northern species. You will then fly directly into the Maasai Mara National Reserve for two nights of intensive Big Five tracking across the golden rolling plains. This is the ultimate efficient luxury safari.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1
Fly from Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
You will be transferred to Wilson Airport for a morning flight flying north over Mount Kenya and crossing the equator. You will land in the arid beautiful landscape of Samburu National Reserve. Your guide will meet you at the airstrip and drive you to your luxury riverfront lodge. After lunch you will enjoy an afternoon game drive looking for reticulated giraffes and Grevy zebras.

Day 2
Tracking the Special Five in Samburu
You will spend the entire day exploring the Samburu wilderness. The lifeblood of this region is the Ewaso Nyiro River which attracts massive herds of elephants and solitary leopards. You will focus your game drives on finding the unique northern species that cannot be found in southern Kenya including the gerenuk and the Somali ostrich.

Day 3
Fly from Samburu to the Maasai Mara
After breakfast you will be transferred to the Samburu airstrip for a direct flight across the country to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This incredibly scenic flight offers magnificent aerial perspectives of the Great Rift Valley. Upon landing in the Mara your new guide will meet you and conduct a game drive en route to your luxury tented camp.

Day 4
Full Day Exploration of the Savanna
Today is dedicated entirely to the Maasai Mara. With a packed picnic lunch you will venture deep into the reserve exploring the vast open plains. Your expert guide will help you track prides of lions and cheetahs hunting on the savanna. You will visit the Mara River to view hippos and crocodiles returning to camp at sunset.

Day 5
Final Safari Morning and Flight to Nairobi
You will enjoy a final early morning game drive to catch the animals while they are still active in the cool dawn air. After returning to your camp for breakfast you will check out and transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi bringing your magnificent flying safari to a close.
