Overview

This nine day safari is meticulously designed for families, ensuring a relaxed pace with minimal long driving days and a variety of engaging activities to keep all ages entertained. You begin gently with a half day in Nairobi National Park. The journey then takes you to Amboseli to see the giant elephants, followed by two nights at Lake Naivasha. Naivasha breaks up the driving with exciting boat rides and walking safaris. The grand finale is an extended three night stay in the Maasai Mara, allowing families to settle in comfortably while enjoying world class Big Five game drives.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival and Nairobi National Park
Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be met by your guide. To ease into the safari experience, you will take a gentle afternoon game drive in Nairobi National Park. It is a fantastic introduction for children, offering immediate sightings of giraffes, rhinos, and lions against the city skyline before resting at your Nairobi hotel.

Day 2
Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
You will depart Nairobi in the morning and drive south to Amboseli National Park. Arriving in time for lunch, you will have a brief rest before embarking on your afternoon game drive. The flat terrain makes it incredibly easy for families to spot the large herds of elephants moving through the swamps.

Day 3
Full Day Exploring Amboseli
You will wake up early for spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will spend the day exploring the park. A visit to Observation Hill allows children to stretch their legs and safely look out over the swamps filled with hippos and elephants. The pacing is kept entirely flexible for the family needs.

Day 4
Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, you will drive back through Nairobi and descend into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. This freshwater lake is a paradise for families. In the afternoon, you will take a relaxing boat ride, providing a unique perspective to photograph hippos in the water and African fish eagles swooping down.

Day 5
Walking Safari and Hell's Gate
Today offers a break from the vehicle. You will visit Crescent Island for a guided walking safari, walking safely alongside giraffes and zebras. In the afternoon, you have the option to visit Hell's Gate National Park, one of the only parks in Kenya where you can safely ride bicycles past wild animals.

Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara National Reserve
You will depart Lake Naivasha and drive through the Rift Valley towards the famous Maasai Mara. Arriving in time for a late lunch, you will have a brief rest before heading out for your first exciting evening game drive, searching for the big cats as they begin their evening activities.

Day 7
Full Day Safari Exploring the Maasai Mara
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the vast plains of the Maasai Mara. Carrying a packed picnic lunch allows you to venture far into the reserve, visiting the Mara River to view hippos and massive crocodiles. Your guide will work to find all members of the Big Five and explain the savanna to the children.

Day 8
Second Full Day in the Maasai Mara
