Ol Pejeta Conservancy

East Africas largest black rhino sanctuary and the last home of the northern white rhino on earth, combined with outstanding Big Five game viewing on a model conservation ranch in the shadow of Mount Kenya.

About Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta Conservancy covers 360 square kilometres of prime wildlife habitat on the Laikipia Plateau and is the most visited wildlife conservancy in East Africa. It is East Africas largest black rhino sanctuary with over 100 individuals, and it is the permanent home of the last two northern white rhinos on earth, Najin and Fatu. The conservancy runs Africa most successful chimpanzee sanctuary, Sweetwaters, and supports vibrant populations of lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, buffalo and all of the Big Five.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is one of the most renowned wildlife conservation areas in Kenya, located within the Laikipia region between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare ranges. The conservancy is internationally recognized for its outstanding efforts in wildlife conservation, particularly in the protection of endangered rhinoceroses.
Ol Pejeta is home to the largest population of black rhinoceroses in East Africa and also provides sanctuary for the last remaining northern white rhinoceroses in the world. This makes it a critically important destination for conservation and education.
In addition to rhinoceroses, the conservancy supports a wide range of wildlife including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and numerous antelope species. The open plains and well managed habitats allow for excellent wildlife viewing.
One of the unique features of Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where visitors can see rescued chimpanzees. The sanctuary provides a safe environment for primates that have been rescued from illegal trade and habitat loss.
Visitors to Ol Pejeta can enjoy a variety of activities including game drives, guided walking safaris, night game drives, and visits to conservation projects. The conservancy offers a more structured and educational safari experience with a strong focus on sustainability.
Accommodation options range from luxury lodges to tented camps and budget facilities, catering to different types of travelers while maintaining high standards of service.
