Laikipia Plateau

The Laikipia Plateau north of Mount Kenya is one of Africas great conservation success stories. A network of private ranches, community conservancies and wildlife sanctuaries across over 9,000 square kilometres together host Kenyas second largest elephant population, healthy populations of African wild dog, striped hyena, reticulated giraffe and a significant proportion of the global endangered black rhino population. The plateau is characterised by rolling upland acacia scrub and grassland at altitudes of 1,700 to 2,400 metres, providing a cooler and more temperate safari experience than the lowland parks.
Laikipia Plateau is one of Kenya’s most unique and progressive wildlife conservation regions, located in central Kenya to the northwest of Mount Kenya.
